The war in Syria forced millions to uproot their lives and to flee their homes. Many of them crossed the border into neighbouring Lebanon, where now one out of four people is a refugee. And even though they are out of the war zone, their lives don’t offer much comfort. 4 out of 5 Syrian children in the country do not attend school, as most of them must work in order to provide for their families.
Abu Walid and his family of 12, including his pregnant wife, fled their farm in Syria and now live and work for pennies in a marble factory. Faisal and Feda, who also had a farm in Syria, live in an illegal tent settlement and work for an auto mechanic. Even though they dream of becoming doctors and officials, the life that they have found in exile makes that highly unlikely for almost an entire generation of Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
